Concrete Patios
Concrete Patios built by Greg
Most people who call about a patio want the same thing: a flat, solid spot outside the back door where the table doesn't wobble and the yard doesn't turn to mud by November. Some are replacing a sunken slab that tips toward the house and sends water at the door. Others are planning a hot tub, an outdoor kitchen or a covered patio and need concrete that's ready for it. Getting the size, height and slope right at the start is what separates a patio you use every summer from one you put up with.
Greg Myers Construction builds concrete patios for homes in Rainier, Tenino, Yelm, Olympia and the rest of Thurston County. Because Greg also builds covered patios, porches and decks, he can plan the slab around the posts and footings of a future roof, set it at the right height below the door, and pitch it so rain drains toward the yard. You get one contractor for the patio and anything built over it, finished with a broom texture for grip or a stamped and colored surface if you want more style.

Questions
Concrete Patios FAQs
How do you keep water from pooling on a patio here?
By sloping it. A patio should fall gently away from the house so rain runs into the yard, and it needs a base that drains instead of holding water underneath. On wet clay lots Greg may add rock or drainage at the edges, and on shady sites he'll talk about finishes and sealing that help with moss.
What does a concrete patio cost?
Size and shape matter most, then site prep, removal of an old slab, how easy it is to reach the backyard, extra thickness for a hot tub, and whether you want a plain or decorative finish. Greg gives free on-site estimates and keeps his markup small, so the price reflects the work.
Can you build a cover over the patio too?
Yes. Greg builds covered patios and porches, so he can pour the slab with footings for the posts, then frame and roof the cover in the same job or come back for it later.
Is a concrete patio or a deck better for my yard?
It depends on the lot. A patio works best on flat ground close to the level of the door, while a deck handles slopes and raised doors without a lot of fill. Greg builds both, so he'll recommend what suits your yard rather than steering you to one.
Can a patio be poured right against my house?
Yes, as long as it slopes away and sits below the siding so water and splash can't get behind it. Greg sets the height so the patio doesn't trap moisture against the wall, which matters where siding and sills stay damp for months.
