Siding
Siding built by Greg
Siding is the raincoat on your house, and in Western Washington it works hard. When it starts to fail you can see it: paint that will not stick, boards swelling or cracking along the bottom, gaps at the corners, moss and mildew that come right back after you wash it, or dark streaks under the windows. Sometimes the siding is simply dated and you want the house to look new again. Either way, new siding is the chance to fix what is behind it, because the wrap, flashing and sheathing matter as much as the boards.
Siding runs all through Greg Myers' own work: board-and-batten on a barndominium with a metal roof, stained board siding on timber pole barns, cedar-shingle gables on craftsman homes, cedar-shake siding on a two-story shop, and a green metal-sided pole building. He also re-sided a historic one-room schoolhouse along with new trim and windows. As a siding contractor with 33 years of experience, Greg handles the full job: tear-off, rot repair, house wrap and flashing, siding, trim, and sealing around every window and door.

Questions
Siding FAQs
How much does new siding cost?
It depends on the size and shape of the house, the siding material, how much trim there is, and what turns up under the old siding. Tall walls, lots of corners and rot repair add work, while a simple one-story house goes faster. Greg gives a free estimate after walking the house.
What siding holds up best in Western Washington rain?
The installation matters more than the material. Any siding lasts longer here with a good weather barrier, flashing at every window and roof line, clearance from the ground and roof, and a gap that lets water drain out from behind it. Fiber cement, cedar, vinyl and metal all perform well when that part is done right.
Do you repair siding or only replace it?
Both. If the damage is limited to a few boards or one wall, we cut out the bad sections, fix any rot underneath, and patch in matching siding. When failures show up on every side of the house, replacement usually makes more sense.
Can you match siding on an older or historic house?
Usually, yes. Greg restored a historic one-room schoolhouse with new siding, trim and windows, and many older lap and shingle profiles can be matched closely. Where an exact match is not available, we suggest re-siding a full wall so the change lands at a corner.
Can you side a barn, shop or pole building?
Yes. Greg's photos include stained board siding on timber pole barns, cedar shake on a two-story shop and a metal-sided pole building, so outbuildings are regular work for him.
