Kitchen Remodeling
Kitchen Remodeling built by Greg
The kitchen is usually the room that finally pushes people to remodel. Counter space runs out, the island you want will not fit, the cabinet doors are coming off their hinges, or the room is walled off from where the family actually spends its time. A kitchen remodel touches almost every part of a house at once, from plumbing and wiring to flooring and finish carpentry. That is why the order of the work, and who is running it, matter as much as the cabinets you pick.
Kitchens are one of the two things Greg Myers names as a specialty, along with additions. A kitchen he built in a lodge-style home has a big island under pendant lights, slate tile and a sliding barn door, and that is the level of finish he brings to a remodel. With 33 years of experience, Greg handles the whole job in-house: layout help, permits, demolition, wall changes, plumbing and electrical, cabinets, counters, backsplash tile, flooring and trim. His big-company buying power on materials, with a small-company markup, keeps more of your budget in the kitchen.

What's included
Kitchen Remodeling: what's included
- 01
Layout and wall changes
Opening a closed kitchen to the living area, moving a doorway, or taking out a wall with a properly sized beam so the new layout works.
- 02
Islands and seating
A new island sized for prep space and stools, with outlets and pendant lights planned in, like the island in Greg's lodge-style kitchen.
- 03
Cabinets and countertops
Cabinets set level and square even on an old, uneven floor, with countertops, sink and hardware fitted to match.
- 04
Tile backsplash and flooring
Backsplash tile, plus kitchen floors that stand up to traffic and spills, including slate and other natural tile.
- 05
Plumbing, electrical and lighting
Relocating the sink, adding a dishwasher, new appliance circuits, and under-cabinet, recessed and pendant lighting.
- 06
Range hood venting and appliances
A range hood ducted to the outside, which matters in a damp climate, and every appliance set and connected before we leave.
How it works
How a kitchen remodel job works
- 1
Free on-site estimate
Greg looks at the kitchen, how you cook and how the room connects to the rest of the house, then gives you a free estimate.
- 2
Design and selections
We settle the layout, cabinet plan, counters, tile and lighting, and order the slow-to-arrive items before demolition starts.
- 3
Demo and rough-in
The old kitchen comes out, then framing changes, plumbing, wiring and venting go in and get inspected while the walls are open.
- 4
Install, finish and walkthrough
Cabinets, counters, tile, floors, trim and appliances go in, then we clean up and go over every detail with you.

Questions
Kitchen Remodeling FAQs
How much does a kitchen remodel cost?
There is no honest flat number, because kitchens range from new cabinets in the same footprint to a full gut with walls moving. The price comes down mostly to layout changes, cabinet and counter choices, how far plumbing and wiring move, and the flooring. Greg gives free on-site estimates so you see the real number for your kitchen.
How long will we be without a kitchen?
That depends on the scope, and Greg gives you a timeline with the estimate. Ordering cabinets, counters and fixtures before demolition keeps the gap as short as possible. Many households set up a microwave, coffee maker and fridge in another room for the middle stretch.
Does a kitchen in Western Washington need anything special?
Ventilation is the big one. With the house closed up through long wet winters, cooking moisture has nowhere to go unless the range hood vents outdoors, and it ends up as mildew on window frames and inside cabinets. We also check for old leaks under the sink and dishwasher, which are common in older homes and easy to fix once the cabinets are out.
Can you remove a wall to open up the kitchen?
Usually, yes. A load-bearing wall gets a beam sized for the span with posts carried down to solid support, and the work goes through permit. Greg checks the wall for plumbing, wiring and ductwork at the estimate so there are no surprises.
Can a kitchen remodel be part of an addition?
Yes, and it is a common pairing. Greg specializes in both additions and kitchen remodels, so a bump-out that gives a cramped kitchen more room, or a whole new kitchen inside a larger addition, is planned and built as one project.
