Siding in Seattle

For siding replacement, siding repair and board-and-batten or cedar exteriors in Seattle, you deal with Greg directly — no salesman, no middleman. He's based in Rainier, about 55 miles away, with 33 years of experience.

In the older neighborhoods here, a lot of the work is remodels, additions, ADUs and decks on tight lots, built to the city's permit and inspection schedule. Either way, new siding is the chance to fix what is behind it, because the wrap, flashing and sheathing matter as much as the boards.

One customer called Greg “a man of integrity.” Another wrote that he “does excellent work.”

Siding around Seattle

Greg works all over Seattle — near Belltown, Uptown and Tilikum Place and out by Bell Street Park and Seattle Children's Museum — and throughout King County.

Seattle is the biggest city in our service area, about 55 miles north of our base in Rainier. Seattle is about 55 miles north of our base in Rainier, well inside our 100-mile service area.

Western Washington buildings fight water more than anything — months of rain, moss on the roof, rot wherever wood stays wet, and soils that hold moisture. A building lasts when it sits on a proper foundation with drainage around it, is wrapped and flashed right, and is built to dry out.

Questions

Siding in Seattle: FAQs

Do you do siding in Seattle, WA?

Yes. Seattle is about 55 miles north of our base in Rainier, well inside our 100-mile service area. Greg handles siding replacement, siding repair and board-and-batten or cedar exteriors there, and the estimate is free.

Do I need a permit for siding in Seattle?

It depends on the project. When one is needed, Greg pulls the permit from the City of Seattle's building department and builds to whatever the permit and inspection require.

How much does new siding cost?

It depends on the size and shape of the house, the siding material, how much trim there is, and what turns up under the old siding. Tall walls, lots of corners and rot repair add work, while a simple one-story house goes faster. Greg gives a free estimate after walking the house.

What siding holds up best in Western Washington rain?

The installation matters more than the material. Any siding lasts longer here with a good weather barrier, flashing at every window and roof line, clearance from the ground and roof, and a gap that lets water drain out from behind it. Fiber cement, cedar, vinyl and metal all perform well when that part is done right.

Do you repair siding or only replace it?

Both. If the damage is limited to a few boards or one wall, we cut out the bad sections, fix any rot underneath, and patch in matching siding. When failures show up on every side of the house, replacement usually makes more sense.

Can you match siding on an older or historic house?

Usually, yes. Greg restored a historic one-room schoolhouse with new siding, trim and windows, and many older lap and shingle profiles can be matched closely. Where an exact match is not available, we suggest re-siding a full wall so the change lands at a corner.
