Window Replacement in Tacoma

People in Tacoma call Greg for replacement windows, new window openings and sill repair. He's a licensed, bonded and insured general contractor out of Rainier, about 29 miles away, and every Tacoma job starts with a free estimate.

In the older neighborhoods here, a lot of the work is remodels, additions, ADUs and decks on tight lots, built to the city's permit and inspection schedule. New windows fix the comfort and the look, but only when they are installed right, because a poorly flashed window is just a new way for water to get into the wall.

One customer called Greg “a man of integrity.” Another wrote that he “does excellent work.”

Window Replacement around Tacoma

Greg works all over Tacoma — near Hilltop Neighborhood, Chinatown and Wright Park and out by Frost Park and U.S. Post Office – Downtown Tacoma — and throughout Pierce County.

Tacoma is Pierce County's largest city, on Commencement Bay at the south end of Puget Sound. Tacoma is about 29 miles north of our base in Rainier, well inside our 100-mile service area.

Western Washington buildings fight water more than anything — months of rain, moss on the roof, rot wherever wood stays wet, and soils that hold moisture. A building lasts when it sits on a proper foundation with drainage around it, is wrapped and flashed right, and is built to dry out.

Questions

Window Replacement in Tacoma: FAQs

Do you do window replacement in Tacoma, WA?

Yes. Tacoma is about 29 miles north of our base in Rainier, well inside our 100-mile service area. Greg handles replacement windows, new window openings and sill repair there, and the estimate is free.

Do I need a permit for window replacement in Tacoma?

It depends on the project. When one is needed, Greg pulls the permit from the City of Tacoma's building department and builds to whatever the permit and inspection require.

Do you do window repair?

Yes, for the carpentry side: rotted sills and jambs, damaged trim, and leaks caused by failed flashing or caulk. When a window's glass seal has failed or the frame is too far gone, replacing the window usually gives you the better result.

Can you add a window or make one bigger?

Yes. Adding or enlarging a window means cutting the wall, installing a header sized for the new opening, and patching siding and interior finishes, all of which Greg does in-house. A permit is needed when the structure changes, and we handle that too.

How much does window replacement cost?

It depends on how many windows you are replacing, their sizes, the frame material and glass, and whether they go in as inserts or full-frame replacements. Rotted sills, unusual sizes and second-story access add work. Greg gives a free on-site estimate with every window counted.

Why do my windows drip with condensation every winter?

Cold glass meets damp indoor air. Single-pane and failing double-pane windows get cold enough for moisture to condense on them, and a long Western Washington winter keeps indoor humidity high. Better-insulated glass helps a great deal, and so do bathroom and kitchen fans that actually vent outside.
